How to convert WebP to JPG or PNG

Convert WebP images to JPG or PNG in your browser. Free, no signup — your files never leave the device. Convert many at once and download.

A form, an email attachment or an older app refuses your WebP file and asks for JPG or PNG instead. Do not give up on the image. Convert it in the browser: add the WebP photo, pick JPG or PNG as the output format, and download the result. You can add many WebP files at once and save them individually or as one ZIP. The work happens on your device, so the file never leaves it.

Steps

  1. Open the Image converter tool at /tools/image-converter/.
  2. Add your WebP photos by dropping them on the page or tapping to pick. Mixed formats are fine, and each file can be up to 30 MB.
  3. Choose the output format. Pick JPG or PNG, and set the quality when the output is JPG.
  4. Convert and download. Save each file on its own, or all of them as one ZIP when there are several.

JPG or PNG: which one to pick

The converter offers JPG, PNG, WebP or BMP as outputs, and the choice changes the file you get back:

  • JPG suits photos and general uploads. JPG has a quality setting, so you can trade file size against detail until the result fits your form's limit.
  • PNG suits images with sharp edges, text or transparency, and it has no quality setting — the conversion keeps what is in the file.
  • BMP is also available if a specific form or program asks for it. Use the format your form lists; if it just says "JPG or PNG", JPG is usually the smaller file for a photo.

Check the size of the downloaded file. If the JPG is still too large for the upload, lower the quality setting and convert again.

When the whole folder is WebP

You can convert many at once. Drop every WebP you need to change, pick the output format once, and convert the batch. Each file can be up to 30 MB. When several files come out, you can download them one by one or grab everything as a single ZIP, which keeps a multi-image submission in one upload.

Converted JPGs can also be made smaller if a form has a size limit: the guide at /articles/photo-under-100-kb/ walks through getting a photo under a stated KB limit, and the image resizer at /tools/image-resizer/ resizes toward a KB target in the browser. If you later need the photos joined into one image for a form that accepts a single file, the combine tool at /tools/combine-images/ joins them side by side, stacked or in a grid.
