How to resize an image to 100 KB or 200 KB

Upload form wants a photo at 100 KB or 200 KB? Resize the image toward that target in your browser and check the size shown. Files stay on your device.

Resize photos to 100 KB or 200 KB target sizes in your browser. Free, no signup — your files never leave your device.

Steps

  1. Open the 100 KB target or the 200 KB target. Each page loads the image resizer with that size already set.
  2. Add your photo by dropping it on the page or tapping to pick. JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 30 MB each.
  3. Check the format. JPG is preselected, WebP is smaller where your browser supports it, and PNG keeps transparency.
  4. Tap Resize. The photo is compressed toward the target, lowering the resolution only if it must.
  5. Download and read the size shown for the result. On the 200 KB page you can save the finished photos one by one or all at once.

100 KB or 200 KB: which target to use

Use the largest limit your form allows. The 100 KB page describes 100 KB as a common limit for website and form uploads that still keeps a photo clear, so use it when the form says 100 KB. If the form allows 200 KB, use that target: less compression is needed, so more detail stays. If your form also lists pixel dimensions, match both; this preset targets file size and only lowers the resolution when it has to.

When the result is still over the limit

The resizer does not promise an exact number of bytes, so the size shown after Resize is the number to trust. If it is still over, crop the photo to the area the form needs in your photo app and run it again, or start from a smaller original. For a longer walkthrough of the 100 KB case, see How to get a photo under 100 KB. The full list of presets, from 10 KB to 1 MB, is on the main image resizer page.

FAQ

  • Does it hit exactly 100 KB? Not necessarily. The photo is compressed toward the target, so check the size shown for the result and crop or re-run it if it is still too large.
  • Which should I pick, 100 KB or 200 KB? Pick the largest limit your form allows. Use 100 KB only when the form states that limit.
  • Do I also need to change the dimensions? Only if your form asks for them. The preset targets file size and lowers the resolution only if it has to.
  • Which format should I use? Use the format your form asks for. JPG is preselected, WebP is smaller where supported, and PNG keeps transparency.
  • Do my photos leave my device? No. The photo is processed in your browser on your device and nothing is uploaded.
